MME, AC - Funny

I stole some time to scrapbook last night. I had just bought a 1.8 F-stop lens when I was visiting my grandparents for his 90th birthday. So, I took a ton of picture when everyone was just sitting around visiting. i am so, so glad I did because I got some good pics but also because it was the last time I would see my grandfather healthy. He went into the ICU after a bleedout a week before I was bringing the kids to see them and he finally left the hospital a month later to go home under the care of hospice. He passed away less than 36 hours later- he was just waiting to go home (and for my grandma to let him go).

He was a character until the bitter end. He was sharp as a tack and had a great sense of humor. When I saw him in ICU, he was on a vent and pretty sedated. But, not so sedated that he couldn't thumb his nose at the nurse when she irritated him *LOL* Or let his opinion (agreement) be known when my mom made a snarky remark :P He even managed to steal a kiss or 2 from grandma when he was a little more awake :)

Anyway, these 2 faces were oh so typical and I am so glad I have these photos. I picked out some MME Lime Twist for this LO and then realized that the AC Chap scraps on my desk mixed with them pretty well. So, I punched out circles in a few sizes and then cut the smaller ones into heart shapes and layered them. They are only glued in the middle so I could fold them up for dimension a bit.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Supplies: MME patterned paper and journaling card; AC Thickers, PP, and mixed tape (Amy Tangerine); EK Success, MS and CM punches; Sassafras button; OA Sprinklers; Colorbox pigment ink; Sakura for CM pens

MME Lush - Love blooms and grows

I had this really old photo sitting in my photo pile and pulled out my MME Lush in red to use with it. Came across this flocked flower paper and the whole LO just flowed out of that. I colored in the white flowers with my FC Design Memorycraft markers and then added my photo matted on the leftover OA paper from my last LO. I inked the edges of the base and mat with colorbox chalk ink, jourbaled along the flower stems with my sakura for CM pen, and added my title with AC thickers and CC Tiny Type. Added some rhinestone brads and I was done.

The journaling just talks about how our lives and marriage have not always been easy peasy in the past 11+ years since this pic was taken; but, that somehow, some way, we still love each other and work to keep it that way :)

October Afternoon Silly

I did this LO for the first challenge in the New 'Hitchhikers Guide to Scrapbooking' class from Two Peas and Shimelle Laine. I picked out a bunch of stuff from the older October Afternoon Nightlight line. I ended up using what I picked for the most part- but sometimes it was because I switched sides of the paper. And I originally had a dark blue paper mat but wasn't liking it that well and got the bright idea to get out the masks and glimmer mists to make a fake mat instead.

I really like how this LO came out and I am pretty pleased at using some older stash I'd been hoarding :P

Supplies: OA PP, diecuts, stickers, sprinklers; Doodlebug buttons; Pink Paislee mask; TA Glimmer Mists; Bazzill CS; AC knockouts, thickers; EK Success punch; WRMK ink; CM pen

Lily Bee - Post-Christmas Coma

This is pretty typical of how we spend our time after the mad present-opening has ended: We all sit around reading or playing with electronics while the kids play with their new stuff or - occasionally- watch TV. The dog is always worn out from all the excitement and takes a nap. Amy is so funny- she removes her cushion from her bed before climbing in. This time, the kids covered her with the cushion and she liked it so much, she just stayed that way :P

Supplies: LB PP and alphas, AC Thickers & pen, Doodlebug alphas, LYB pins, Imaginisce brad, MM buttons and rub-on, OA label stickers, Coredinations CS, Twinery twine, Prima flower, MS border w/ Mr Huey mist from SC to make it a better green

Lily Bee

Almost to the end of Christmas layouts- for reals this time :P

I made an accordion fold-out "mini" and adhered it directly to this page for most of the present pictures. There were some special gifts this year (2009) so I wanted to document them (I do still need to journal) but didn't really want to create 5 LOS. So, this worked for me

And, yes, the dog gets presents too. It is a standing joke to give her a new squeaky toy and see how long it takes her to de-squeak it *LOL*

The more I look at this LO, the more I think I need to ditch those trees. Any opinions?

Supplies: Lily Bee PP and rub-ons, Bazzill pleated border and CS, MM stickers, WRMK photo-turn and brad

Lily Bee

Oops! Haven't had a chance to post in a few days- at least in part because I didn't have anything to post!  Work is busy plus I am still in the process of putting my craft cave back together again. It is almost done now and I seriously love it. I have purged a ton of stuff and re-organized everything else. I still have plans for a couple more changes but I can take my time with those (ribbon and replacing my clip-it-up)

Anyway, I finally worked on pics for Christmas 2.0 - we always have a second celebration with my parents and siblings' families. We all have stockings at the parents house ( 1 per couple now and the kids have their own) and opening those is often the favorite part of the day :P

So, I switched to Lily Bee papers for these LOs - I'm trying to start using some of my "older" stash that I truly love and quit saving it for "the perfect project" *LOL*

Supplies: Lily Bee PP, MM Bling title and rhinestones, Jolee's stickers, Bazzill CS, October Afternoon sticker, Martha Stewart border

Be You- American Crafts

It has been a crazy, busy few days around here. I am still trying to re-organize my craft room, the kids have baseball and boy scouts on top of school, and both of us have busy jobs. Plus, the hot water tank needs to be replaced ASAP

But, I finally stole some time to scrapbook last night - I'm way sleepy today but it was worth it to get to play :P

This LO served several purposes- using some older stuff that I still like, using newer AC chap, and playing with chipboard for Shimelle's Glitter Girl challenge at 2 Peas. Plus, I got these cute pics on a page of course :D I don't know why we buy kids toys - they are just as likely to play with plastic cups and baskets - at least in my house.

I re-colored the chipboard star (it was white with glitter dots) and covered the arrow in paper. I haven't added the date and journaling yet- need to look up the pics on my PC for that.

Supplies: American Crafts papers and Thickers, Scenic Route and October Afternoon labels. WRMK and unknown (really old) grommets, My Minds Eye rub-ons, Maya Road and Little Yellow Bicycle pins, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Making Memories paint, colorbox ink, Bazzill CS,  Pressed Petals adhesive chipboard, Deluxe designs chipboard arrow

Cuckoo For You

I am not a big card maker but I do try to make cards for most occasions since I have all the supplies. My DH and I usually do little more than exchange cards for Valentine's Day so that  is one of the cards I try to make so it is more "special".

Anyway, the Finally Friday card challenge this week at 2 Peas is for an interactive card and I have had this idea rattling around in my head ever since I saw Laura Craigie's video. Looking at it now, I see I must've been influenced by her Kraft CS and woodgrain background though I had forgotten what her card looked like :P. Anyway, I am not entirely happy with the WG stamping on this so I would have made the crad smaller if I had it to do over again but I was completely winging it and I am not about to start over :P I started with a 6x6 card base. I cut the bottom corners and then I cut the roof line from the top. Then I cut doors from the front, lined the bird's room and inside doors, and then glued the front down (the flaps are all that open now).

Supplies: Archivers CS, My Minds Eye papers (Love Me), bird sticker from Paper Bliss (Salon line), Making Memories chipboard clock, Hero Arts stamp, Ranger distress ink, Glitz letters, Sharpie pen

He Said, She Said and Basic Grey

One of the recent challenges at 2 Peas (ended yesterday) was to use the journaling prompt "conversations". Well, I had been wanting to scrapbook this convo for a very long time so that got me off dead center

My friend and my son (who she calls her boyfriend - her husband doesn't mind) had the funniest conversation one night at my house. When she repeated it to me, I asked her to write it down. So, the journaling is basically what she wrote on the spot

Almost everything is BG Marjolaine (PP, die-cuts, stickers) with some Archivers CS, BG ribbon (older line), Karen Foster letters and MM brads thrown in.

I also used the 2/6/2012 sketch from the BG blog and I clustered both my photos and my hand-cut flowers for the latest Scrap Fit weekend workout

Echo Park - Opening presents

I hope these are the last of my Christmas at out house LOs. I still have pics of xmas 2.0 at the grandparents house. I ended up using the same AC Thickers from a couple other recent LOs and more of this Christmas line from Echo Park (designed by Bella Road) Lots and lots of pictures so I tried to keep it pretty simple. The onyl other supplies were some old Joann's Craft Essentials embellies from my stash and the Bazzill CS

Echo Park - Merry Christmas

I cannot believe I cut out all those ornaments- but I did. I was going to actually string them on the twine but quickly figured out that was not going to work so I just glued the twine down to the page and then added the ornaments on top. It's a pretty simple LO but I like it :)

Supplies: EP papers, Bazzill Basics CS, October Afternoon sprinklers, My Minds Eye journaling card. Twinery twine

Echo Park - Favorites

I hate taking photos of my layouts- it is so hard to get it looking right and straight on. I am taking a workshop ion the next couple months that will hopefully help me take my DSLR off manual and maybe that will help too :P

Anyway, this might look like it is a bad photo of a white background but actually it is on a silver grey CS (Bazzill Bling)  The PP is all Echo Park by Bella Road. The Alpohas are AC Thickers (blue and green) and CI (red) Journaling and hand-drawn border were done with Zig and CM brown pens. The brown bracket border is Bazzill just the edge. It wasn't really the right brown so I colored it with corduroy distress ink.

I wanted to mimic the subway style in the PP border for the title - plus, it was a great way to help use up the 2 sets of thickers.

My kids were supposed to hold up their own favorite Christmas presents. Instead, they held up their favorite of each others presents - which I found out after I made the LO- but luckily before I added journaling. Silly boys *LOL*

American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan LO

A friend and I went to Archivers last night and they had the new Dear Lizzy line in so I picked out a few things 'cause it is really cute in person and I had some camera phone pics of my boys from "ChickFilA night". We don't go weekly by any means, but every Tues they have discounted kids meals that come with ice cream instead of a toy and they love to go! It is always packed - esp with a balloon lady there too :P
I got the insane idea to use the pre-sewn banner and a gluber to make a starburst/flower embellie. Wasn't sure I liked it at first but I do now after I added the big brad in the center. I used 2 of the patterned paper (one is the green ombre b-side of a cute chevron, the other is cute motifs on one side and the brown stripe on the other) and the tear strip was an ice cream cone so I used that too. I added some older AC thickers, a brad, a MS border strip,  and the OA sidewalks softies but everything else is DL stickers and alphas
