MME, AC - Funny

I stole some time to scrapbook last night. I had just bought a 1.8 F-stop lens when I was visiting my grandparents for his 90th birthday. So, I took a ton of picture when everyone was just sitting around visiting. i am so, so glad I did because I got some good pics but also because it was the last time I would see my grandfather healthy. He went into the ICU after a bleedout a week before I was bringing the kids to see them and he finally left the hospital a month later to go home under the care of hospice. He passed away less than 36 hours later- he was just waiting to go home (and for my grandma to let him go).

He was a character until the bitter end. He was sharp as a tack and had a great sense of humor. When I saw him in ICU, he was on a vent and pretty sedated. But, not so sedated that he couldn't thumb his nose at the nurse when she irritated him *LOL* Or let his opinion (agreement) be known when my mom made a snarky remark :P He even managed to steal a kiss or 2 from grandma when he was a little more awake :)

Anyway, these 2 faces were oh so typical and I am so glad I have these photos. I picked out some MME Lime Twist for this LO and then realized that the AC Chap scraps on my desk mixed with them pretty well. So, I punched out circles in a few sizes and then cut the smaller ones into heart shapes and layered them. They are only glued in the middle so I could fold them up for dimension a bit.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Supplies: MME patterned paper and journaling card; AC Thickers, PP, and mixed tape (Amy Tangerine); EK Success, MS and CM punches; Sassafras button; OA Sprinklers; Colorbox pigment ink; Sakura for CM pens

  2. He was an ornery old man. My last sight of him was scratching his back (at his request) and kissing him goodbye - while he was sitting on the hospital portable potty. So like him somehow.

    Love the layout!

  3. Awww what a touching story. He sounds like a lovely grandpa! I love reading scrapbooker's story about a layout. The stories give the pages entirely different meaning!

    Did you get 50mm 1.8? I love 50mm and 35mm. They're so versatile!

    1. Karen, what an endearing story! So sad that he is gone, but lucky you got the photo's when you did. Thank you for commenting on my blog. I know how you feel about the paper, I have a ton of that years's collection left, because I bought a ton of it when it came out. Same with the MME lines of that year. Love Penny
